CJ ESCOBAR RODGERS

CJ Escobar Rodgers in black and white, portrait for artist biography page

CJ Escobar-Rodgers is originally from Long Island, NY. He began with studying Finance at the University of Notre Dame, but soon realized he enjoyed making the PowerPoint slides more than the research content. After dabbling in app design, he moved on to gain three different degrees: Marketing, Psychology, and Studio Art. After less than a year of making sculptures, CJ’s works were permanently installed on campus in the Psychology Department and in the Main Building, the famed “Golden Dome.” He soon landed jobs at the Snite Museum of Art and Raclin-Murphy Museum of Art as a student preparator and researcher studying textiles, probing him to learn weaving, crochet, and sewing to incorporate textiles into his ceramic work and connect with his ancestral roots. In the past year, he has exhibited at galleries, art clubs, art centers and museums in Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Rhode Island, and New York, and gained representation in the permanent collection of the Midwest Museum of American Art. In the coming year, he will exhibit in solo shows at Highland Gallery in South Bend, IN and Czong Institute for Contemporary Art (CICA) in South Korea.
